Pelvic health physiotherapy for incontinence, prolapse, pelvic pain and your transition through perimenopause and menopause, with assessment and treatment shaped around you.
Pelvic health physiotherapy can help treat urinary incontinence, anal incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse and pelvic, low back and hip pain, by improving core muscle function. What happens on the inside of your pelvis often shapes what you feel on the outside of your body.
Our pelvic health physiotherapists are registered and trained specifically to evaluate and treat dysfunction that occurs both internally and externally, so your care can address the root of the concern, not just the symptom.
By improving how your core and pelvic floor muscles work together, pelvic health physiotherapy can help with a wide range of concerns, including:
Your pelvic health doesn't exist in a vacuum. It is deeply connected to your hormones, your muscles and your overall alignment. Our general pelvic health services are designed to offer lasting relief and support through every major chapter of your life, including perimenopause and menopause.
As estrogen levels naturally shift and decline during this transition, many women notice sudden, unexpected changes in their bodies. You might find yourself dealing with new joint aches, or a change in how your bladder behaves. Our registered pelvic health physiotherapists bridge the gap between orthopedic care and pelvic wellness, treating your body as a whole to help you navigate these shifting tissues with confidence.
Lasting relief from stress urinary incontinence (leakage when you cough, sneeze or lift), sudden urgency, and chronic constipation.
Easing estrogen-driven joint pain, morning stiffness, and changes to hip, low back or tailbone stability.
Managing internal feelings of pelvic pressure, laxity or heaviness, as well as relieving muscle tightness and painful intercourse.
Rebuilding core and hip stability to protect your bone density, support your posture, and combat natural changes in muscle mass.
It is incredibly common to experience these symptoms as your body changes, but you do not have to accept pain, stiffness or leakage as an inevitable part of growing older. Whether you are just beginning to notice the subtle signs of perimenopause or are years post-menopause, our expert, unhurried care is here to help you rebuild your foundation, protect your body, and safely return to the activities you love.
The pelvic health assessment is a one-hour exam with a registered pelvic health physiotherapist, completed in a fully private room. It has two parts:
We look at how you move and your general strength, building a clear picture of how your body is working as a whole.
A vaginal and/or rectal exam to assess pelvic floor strength and function, pelvic organ position and tailbone movement. It's always optional and only ever done with your informed consent.
