Two clinicians reviewing a patient referral together
For Clinicians

Partnering with you in care

Referral information and scope of practice for the physicians and care providers we work alongside, including pessary fittings and pelvic health physiotherapy.

Scope of Practice

Registered, professional and evidence informed care

Our registered pelvic health physiotherapists are trained specifically to evaluate and treat both pelvic health and orthopedic dysfunctions. Internal evaluation and treatment of pelvic floor dysfunction, in conjunction with external evaluation of the hip, pelvis, abdominal wall and spine, provides a cohesive, holistic approach to symptom management and resolution. Problems on the inside of the pelvis often shape what's happening on the outside of the body, and we assess across that whole picture.

We welcome referrals and collaboration, and we're glad to keep you informed about your patient's progress throughout their care.

No referral needed for general care. Patients do not need a referral for general pelvic health, prenatal or postnatal physiotherapy. They can book directly. A physician form is required specifically for pessary fittings, as below.

Pessary Referrals

Referring a patient for a fitting

A pessary offers non-surgical support for pelvic organ prolapse and stress urinary incontinence. To refer a patient for a fitting, complete and fax the Physician Pessary Referral Form. Three steps:

  1. 01

    Confirm it's safe to fit

Complete the Physician Pessary Referral Form confirming the patient is safe to be fitted and that their vaginal tissues are healthy.

  2. 02

    Prescribe vaginal estrogen if needed

If you prescribe vaginal estrogen to improve tissue health, it's recommended the patient uses it for 6 weeks before their fitting appointment.

  3. 03

    Fax the form to us

Fax the completed form directly to us at 403-930-3546. Once received, the patient books a Pessary Fitting Assessment.
